COLL 150 - What Learner Are You?

Based on my learning test results, I am 50% of an interpersonal learner. This means that I communicate and work effectively among others. I can agree with this since I like interacting with others especially with my friends. They always come for me for advice when they need it. I think social interaction is important especially in a classroom because it helps the students gain confidence, build trust and help refine their interpersonal skills.

Growing up I was always a shy, quiet kid, who never started the first sentence. During group projects, I would let someone else take over rather than shared my own ideas. Though as I got older, I started engaging myself more and expressing myself through creativity. This was something I was always naturally good at and got a lot of credit for which made it easier to communicate with others. Now, whenever I'm in a new setting, despite being shy at first, I make sure that I contribute myself into a conversation.

Something I thought was interesting after taking the test was learning the different careers that sucessfuly use this learning style. According to the test results, "It is evident in successful teachers, social workers, actors, or politicians, and operates primarily through person-to-person relationships and communication.". I liked how it mentioned actors since this is the career field I want to pursue in the future. Knowing my learning style can be helpful in my educational journey because I now have a better understanding of how I work best and can use this tool as I enter college like working in study groups and taking part in other social activities.
